Be in the present

A study reveals that on average an average person runs about sixty thousand thoughts in his mind. More surprisingly, out of which 95 % thoughts are the same thoughts which he has thought the day before. Even the best-conditioned thinkers are using only 1/100th of a percent of their mental reserves and that too majorly on old thoughts.

This indicates that though we are living in the ‘present’ our minds are connected with either past experiences or plans, sometimes future apprehension.

A lot of research and the evidence-based study revealed that ‘Doing it now’ or ‘staying at the present’ by training our brain is a major trait to get succeeded.

Every time you are tempted to react in the same old way, ask if you want to be a prisoner of the past or a pioneer of the future.” — Deepak Chopra

Past can not be the window for the future. Focus on now! Be on the present. The power of now & at the same time rightly doing it now makes you faster, smarter, action-oriented, and eventually a successful individual.

How can you be at the present?

> Managing negative thoughts

Think, in a garden do we invite weeds? The answer is — NO. The weeds keep on coming along with our desired trees & flowers. What do we do? we just uproot & throw those away weeds from the garden, it again appears & again we uproot & throw away.

Negative thoughts are like the weeds in the garden. It will keep on coming & you need to keep on removing them. By doing the same consistently over some time one becomes master of handling wrong/negative/ repetitive thoughts.

“Watch your thoughts, they become your actions,

Watch your actions, they become your habits,

Watch your habits, they become your character,

Watch your character, they become your destiny”

“Winner win in life because they win the battle in their mind first” — Tony Gaskins

So, do not be a prisoner of negative thoughts. Don’t be even a prisoner of past thoughts time and again. Be in the present. Focus on now! Managing negative thoughts is crucial.

Remember, whatever you look for you will find.

> Change Your State

To be always in the present you should be able to change your state instantly at a moment’s notice. If you feel that your mind roams between past experiences and future apprehensions rather than being in the present that indicates, you are not in the right state.

If you do not feel yourself to be highly motivated to chase your dreams that too indicates, you are NOW not in the right state. If you can not concentrate or focus on what you want, you are not in the right state NOW.

Change your state. Focus on now! Be in the present.

> Manage repeatable thoughts

Managing repeatable thoughts is not an easy task. In 24 hrs duration, more than 90 percent of thoughts are repeated. A majority of thoughts are about unforeseen future. But, in reality, the human brain is plastic in nature and the brain can be trained.

Practice Serenity Prayer — “God grant me the serenity to accept the things that I can’t change, the courage to change the things that I can, and wisdom to understand what I can change and what I can’t change”.

Practice this prayer. Focus on now! Be in the present.

Eckhart Tolle the German writer, speaker, and spiritual leader has written a very informative wonderful award-winning book ‘The Power of Now. In the book, he has given the clear message that living in the now is the truest path to happiness and enlightenment. The power of now shows that every minute you spend worrying about the future or regretting the past is a minute lost because all you have to live in the present.

“Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have. Make the NOW the primary focus of your life”

Eckhart Tolle

> Managing inner world –

Emotional Health

Mental Health

Spiritual Health

Physical Health

Out of four major types of health physical health belongs to the ‘outer world’. Rest all three types of health (emotional, mental, and spiritual) together comprise the ‘inner world’.

But, the kind of care we take for physical health is usually not taken to nourish emotional, mental, or spiritual health. To be in the present managing inner health is a must. Focus on now! Be in the present.

>Train your brain — Being in the present and focusing on the power of now is all about leading a happy, resourceful, and fulfilled life. You need to train your brain to focus on now.

Michael Merzenich, Prof. UCLA, and a leading Neuroscientist explained that “Radical improvement is possible how we learn, think, perceive and remember at all ages with right training and efforts.” He also explained and proved that our brains are indeed plastic and that brain can be trained.

The brain is versatile, resilient, modifiable, and trainable. So, to bring back your touring mind either from the past or from the future and to be in the present you need to train your brain.

Training your brain will help you to be in the present and you will realize the power of now. Focus on now! Practice it with all kinds of empowering thoughts.
